Fiona Hyett, the deputy director of nursing at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust and Salisbury City Hall Vaccination Centre Director said: "The Covid-19 vaccines are the best way we have to protect the vulnerable, save lives, reduce illness and move on from the pandemic.

"It is by our collective effort as a community that we will be able to get back to normal as soon as possible.

"We are keen that everyone accepts the invitation to be vaccinated. To help people make a decision staff across the NHS are willing and able to discuss concerns individuals may have.

"It is probably advisable to ignore any anonymous leaflets and use recognised sources such as the NHS and Public Health England or the range of medical and healthcare Royal Colleges that all have helpful information and guidance from recognised specialists."

"At the hospital we are still seeing cases of Covid-19 and recently have sadly had a number of deaths where the patients were Covid-19 positive," added Fiona.

"To date we have had 217 people die within 28 days of receiving a Covid-19 positive test, four of these have been in the past three weeks.

"The vaccination programme in Salisbury has been hugely successful thanks to the enormous effort from NHS staff, GPs, volunteers and the public, all striving to get the job done. It is a great example of what can be achieved when the community comes together in the face of adversity."
