In this week's nostalgia special, we published pictures of Salisbury and south Wiltshire in the 1960s.

One of them, taken on April 30, 1961, shows a very young Sir Cliff Richard delighting patients and staff at the then Odstock hospital with his music.

As ever, we ask you, our readers, to share your memories with us and get in touch if you have more information on the photos we print.

Well, after sharing this picture of Sir Cliff, we were delighted to receive an email from reader Pennie Hardisty who happens to be featured in the photo as well.

She wrote: "Wow! Imagine my surprise to read through the Salisbury Journal and spot a photo of my 11 year old self on page 44 being serenaded by Cliff!

"I had been in hospital for several weeks having an operation on one of my legs when I learned that Cliff was to appear in Salisbury.

"I was very upset that I would miss it so matron wrote to his agent asking him to come to visit the hospital.

"He visited the women’s ward and I was wheeled over from the children’s ward.

"Someone asked him to sing and he said that he would sound awful without a guitar so one of the male nurses went over to the nurses’ home and fetched his for Cliff to use.

"He sang Living doll and Travelling Light. I still have the original Journal article and photo!"

Next week (Thursday August 5) we will be featuring photos from the 70s and early 80s so make sure you look out for those too.
