RESIDENTS are invited to have their say on plans for 31 homes and new GP surgery in Hindon.

Family-owned housebuilder, C G Fry and Son Ltd, are consulting on the plans for the site at Chicklade Road before a planning application for the finalised scheme is submitted.

The new surgery would replace the village GP practice’s existing building, which it says is "no longer fit-for-purpose".

Salisbury Journal:

David Lohfink, Land and Planning Director at C G Fry and Son Ltd, said “After a number of years of working closely with the Neighbourhood Plan process and the local GP practice, we are delighted to now be able to present our emerging plans for this development.

"The scheme design is fully informed by the village’s Neighbourhood Plan. A huge amount of work has gone into producing the Neighbourhood Plan, and our plans will help to realise the vision of the local volunteers who took it from an initial idea to part of Wiltshire Council’s Development Plan.

"We look forward to hearing the comments and suggestions of Hindon residents to help inform our final plans, to deliver new homes and a much-needed new surgery for the village.”

Salisbury Journal:

The plans, it also says, have been informed by the village’s Neighbourhood Plan, which was supported by the village at a referendum in May of this year.

The Dorset-based housebuilder has delivered schemes in Tisbury, as well as the Huntsgate and Woodlands developments in Mere.

Affordable homes

The proposed development would be a mix of two, three and four bed homes.

C G Fry’s plans include 12 affordable homes as well as "extensive" areas of public open space, and landscaping to "enhance and protect the setting of the village".

Access

The new scheme would be accessed off East Street using the existing turning. The intention is to change the priority of East Street and the existing cul-de-sac part of East Street would become a turning off this access road helping to "reduce traffic speeds".

How to have your say

Members of the community can view and comment on the plans at cgfryhindon.co.uk

The online consultation runs until August 23.

'Drop-in' events

The online consultation will be followed by a “drop-in” event at the village hall in early September where members of the community can come and meet the project team, representatives from the local GP practice and see how local feedback has helped to inform the final plans.
