STUDENTS across the county collected their A-level results this week - here is more on how they did.

The figures have been released by Wiltshire Council who say more than 1,400 students received their results which show an improvement across the board on 2020 results.

In total, students entered 4,600 exams, with 42 percent of entries achieving A*-A grades and 67 per cent gaining A*-B grades.

The council says these are provisional figures as results are still coming in from some schools.

This year results were based on teacher assessed grades due to the cancellation of external exams, so comparisons to results in previous years cannot be made.

Cllr Dominic Muns, Wiltshire Council's portfolio holder for education said: “This provisional data is very positive. Early indications show that schools in Wiltshire have performed very well this year and have improved on the 2020 results across the board.

“I would like to congratulate all our A-level students on their results, they have worked so hard to overcome the unprecedented challenges of the last two years. Their success is well deserved.

“I would also like to thank teachers, support staff, parents and guardians for all their hard work in supporting our students and helping to achieve these results.

“Some students many not have received the grades they expected or decided on what they want to do next. I would urge them to initially speak to their school or college who can offer help and advice about options available to them including the appeals process."
