TV PRESENTER and garden expert Charlie Dimmock was on hand to share her expertise in Salisbury.

The former Ground Force star was at Monument Place Retirement Living Plus development and Castle Gate Retirement Living development on Endless Street on July 30.

She entertain guests with a gardening demonstration, as well as providing advice and inspiration for planting schemes that encourage small birds and insects to visit.

Charlie, who first shot to fame in 1997 when she joined the gardening series Ground Force and is currently a member of the presenting team on Garden Rescue, also answered gardening queries during a question and answer session.

She said: “It was great to be invited to Monument Place and Castle Gate and join in with the summer celebrations. We had a wonderful time discussing a variety of planting ideas from growing lemon trees to keeping ponds balanced and clear. It was a real joy to meet all the homeowners at the development and their guests.”

The event was part of McCarthy Stone's summer celebrations.

Verity McKay, the divisional marketing manager at McCarthy Stone Southern, said: “We wanted to give our guests and homeowners a summer to remember, which is why we’re proud to have hosted a series of summer garden celebrations.

“We were thrilled to welcome Charlie to Monument Place and Castle Gate and join us for an entertaining afternoon. Her demonstration certainly inspired everyone to get their gardening gloves on and she shared lots of brilliant hints and tips. On behalf of our team and homeowners, I’d like to thank her for joining us.”
