A BUS shelter in Salisbury will have to be replaced after it was damaged following a crash.

The damage to the bus shelter on the A354 Coombe Road was reported to Wiltshire Council on the afternoon of Thursday, August 12.

A picture sent to the Journal shows the remains of the bus shelter taped off with police tape.

Cllr Dr Mark McClelland, Wiltshire Council's cabinet member for transport, said: “We are aware of damage to the bus shelter on the A354 Coombe Road in Salisbury following a road traffic collision, and are awaiting a report from the police.

"We will be working to replace the shelter in due course."

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: "We were called to Coombe Road at around midday last Thursday after it was reported that a car had hit a bus shelter.

“When we arrived, the driver appeared to be uninjured and the shelter was in an unusable state.

“We have now handed over the responsibility of repairing the shelter to the relevant authorities.”
