AS THE Bank Holiday weekend approaches here are just a few events and activities taking place.

1. Taste Salisbury

Taste Salisbury, a ten-day food festival celebrating food and drink venues, producers and sellers, starts today (Friday August 27), and has been organised by Salisbury BID, Salisbury City Council and Experience Salisbury.

2. Fayre on the Square

Fayre on the Square’s Salisbury City Garden Bar and nine-hole mini golf course will be in Guildhall Square until Tuesday August 31.

3. Bullfest

Salisbury Live in association with the Bull Hotel Downton present Bullfest on Saturday (August 28) from 4pm to 10.30pm and is headlined by Train to Skaville.

4. Sunday Funday & Retro in the Rec

Sunday Funday and Retro in the Rec is taking place at Durrington Recreation Ground on Saturday (August 28) from 1pm to 11pm.

The Sunday funday events run from 1pm to 5pm with a party evening from 6pm to 11pm and a family quiz followed by 70s, 80s, 90s and noughties music from Disco Dion and DJ Paul Alex.

There will be food vendors, beer tent, inflatables and face painting.

5. Salisbury Bear Hunt

The Salisbury Bear Hunt for Save the Children runs until September 6.

There are 100 bears hidden in shop windows.

Entry forms are available from Salisbury Information Centre.

6. Play for a Cure

A polo day, Play for a Cure, is being held on Sunday (August 29) at Tedworth Park Polo Club in Tidworth in aid of Cancer Research UK.

There will be trade stands, a raffle, licensed bar and more. Gates open at 11am. Entry is a £10 donation per person.

7. Nature trail

Salisbury City Council’s Communities Team have put together the Salisbury Discovery Nature Trail to get you to explore areas you may never have visited before.

It is made up of 15 posts with special zinc plaques which are that you can create a rubbing from. All are located in parks and open spaces.

8. Bee Trail

Another trail available the Salisbury virtual bee trail, with boards spread out at different locations including Castle Hill Country Park and Queen Elizabeth Gardens.

9. Outdoor cinema

An outdoor cinema event is being held by The Lost Cinema in the grounds of Salisbury Cathedral.

The programme of films starts with Bridesmaids today (Friday August 27) and will be followed by Moulin Rouge on Saturday and Jurassic Park on Sunday.

Tidworth Town Council is hosting another open air cinema event for the local community on Saturday with screenings of Moana (11.30am) and Grease (6.30pm). Arrival 30 minutes prior to the film start time.

10. Family Funday

A FAMILY funday fundraiser is being held to raise money for the John McNeill Opportunity Centre in Salisbury.

The event, which also includes a five-a-side football tournament takes place on Sunday August 29 at Laverstock Football Club, from 12pm to 6pm.

A fun day is planned with Cholderton Rare breeds on tour, Hartbeeps, Starcast, Kidz Love Fit, a raffle and much more.
