HAVE you got what it takes to be crowned a star baker in Salisbury?

The Great Salisbury Bake Off is being held on Sunday September 5 as part of Taste Salisbury.

The competition forms part of its Foodie Sunday programme which also marks the 10th and final day of the Taste Salisbury food and drink festival.

How to take part

Budding bakers are invited to impress the judges in the Bake Off with their fantastic creations.

All you need to do is bring your cake to Salisbury Guildhall by 12pm on the day to enter in either the Under 16’s or Over 16’s category.

Prizes up for grabs

There will be a chance for participants to come away with the following prizes:

  • Over 16’s first prize: Portable Airbrush and a set of paints donated by The Cake Forge
  • Over 16’s runner up prize: £50 Waitrose Cookery school voucher, donated by the Salisbury Waitrose Cookery School (this is enough to cover a 2 hour evening course or can be put toward a full day course)
  • Under 16’s first prize: Cake making tools and decorations bundle donated by The Cake Forge
  • Under 16’s runner up prize: Baking experience with Charter 1227 Chef, in their professional kitchen, donated by Charter 1227 Kitchen.

Judging

The judges are not only looking for the best decorated but also the tastiest cake too.

Winners will be announced by 2pm on the day.

Foodie Sunday

The Bake Off is taking place at Foodie Sunday which is open from 10am to 4pm on Sunday September 5.

Salisbury City Council is hosting Foodie Sunday which will give visitors the chance to enjoy food demonstrations, tastings, local chefs and an array of food vendors in Market Place as well as the Salisbury Vegan Fair.

There will also be live music acts including five piece band King Louie.

The market will also host a large variety of food vendors that cater for all tastes including vegan and gluten free options.

Visitors can enjoy food including pizzas, curries, Thai, cheeses and Mexican food and sample an assortment of sweet treats such as pancakes, doughnuts, ice cream and more.

Once you’ve worked up a thirst enjoy a tipple from one of the bars.
