A VAN was destroyed after a fire in Ringwood over the weekend.

Firefighters from Ringwood Fire Station were called at 8.29am on Sunday (August 29) to a van fire on Mansfield Road.

Police also attended the scene.

A spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service (HIWFRS) said: "The van was well alight upon arrival when the road was closed by police.

"The vehicle was destroyed in the blaze which was extinguished using two sets of breathing apparatus, one hose reel and two litres of Compressed Air Foam System.

"HIWFRS used Environment Agency pads and mats to clear up water run off prior to leaving the scene at 9.30am."

Pictures sent to the Journal show the vehicle being loaded onto a recovery truck that afternoon with police officers assisting with traffic control.

The fire service says the cause of the fire is not believed to be suspicious and is not being investigated.
