One more patient at Salisbury District Hospital has died after testing positive for Covid-19.

This brings the total number of patients dying with Covid in the hospital to 219 since the start of the pandemic.

The patient, a woman in her 70s, had underlying health conditions and was being cared for in the hospital.

She died yesterday (Tuesday, September 7).

There are currently 10 Covid-positive patients being treated at the site.

A spokesperson for Salisbury District Hospital said: "Sadly, we can confirm that a patient who had been cared for at Salisbury District Hospital and had tested positive for Covid-19 died on Tuesday, September 7.

"The patient was in her 70s and had underlying health conditions.

"219 patients in total have now passed away.

"Our thoughts and condolences are with the patient’s family and loved ones at this very difficult and distressing time.

"We would urge everyone to continue to take precautions to minimise the spread of the virus."
