A FORDINGBRIDGE man was given an 18-week jail sentence, suspended for 18 months, for driving while disqualified and failing to report an accident.

Andrew William Berry, of Ashford Road, was sentenced by West Hampshire Magistrates' Court in Southampton on September 6.

The 53-year-old admitted driving on Shaftesbury Street on November 18, 2020 while disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence, failing to report an accident where damage was caused to another vehicle, and driving without insurance.

Berry was also ordered to complete 15 rehabilitation activity days, was disqualified from driving for another 36 months, and his driving record endorsed.

In addition to this he must pay compensation of £300.

He must comply with a curfew requirement for 12 weeks with electronic monitoring between between 7pm and 7am each day.

The defendant was also fined £400 for the offence of driving without insurance.
