A PLANNING application has been submitted to build three flats above a shop in Durrington.

The application also seeks permission to create an associated bin store and parking.

The planning statement says: "The proposal is considered to have a positive impact on the character and appearance of the area, it is also pertinent to note that such an arrangement can already be found in the immediate area.

"The proposed arrangement largely mirrors the site immediately adjacent to the property, which also comprises a ground floor commercial unit, with residential development above. As such, the proposal is not considered to appear out of keeping with the surrounding area."

It adds that the application site is bound by residential properties to the north, south and east, a care home to the west, and as such, the proposal has been designed to ensure that the development "would not harm the amenity of the surrounding properties".

The applicants also say that the proposed development would provide "a high standard of living and accommodation" for the future occupiers, and that future occupants "will be able to enjoy more than adequate levels of natural light, to ensure that they have a high-quality living environment".
