A NEW Forest home was target by five unknown men and a vehicle was set on fire.

Hampshire Constabulary says it received reports of five "unknown men" approaching the property in Bransgore and damaging two windows. A fire was also started in the front seat of a 4x4.

A police spokesperson said: "We were called out at 7.47am on Friday 10 September following reports of an arson at a residential property in Thorney Hill, Bransgore.

"The incident occurred between 6.45am and 7.15am that morning, when it was reported that five unknown men approached a property and smashed two windows of the house and the passenger window of a 4x4 vehicle.

"A small fire was then set in the front seat of the vehicle, before the five men fled the scene. No injuries were reported."

A fire crew from Burley were called at 6.57am to a vehicle alight on Braggers Lane.

A spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service said: "Police were requested to attend as the fire was believed to have been started deliberately.

"The car was destroyed in the blaze which was stopped using two sets of breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet."

It took firefighters around 40 minutes to put the fire out.
