A MAN who chased another man with a glass bottle during a fight in Amesbury has been jailed.

Back on July 28, last year, there was an altercation between David Langley and Jordan Sheldon in Fosters Bushes and Sandell Place which was witnessed by members of the public including young children.

The pair, who have both been sentenced for their parts in the disorder, were seen fighting, including Langley chasing Sheldon with a glass bottle.

Officers attended the scene and, following an investigation, both were charged under Section 4 of the Public Order Act.

On Tuesday, Langley, 42, of Earls Court Road, Amesbury, appeared at Salisbury Magistrates Court and was sentenced to nine weeks in prison, as well as being ordered to pay costs and surcharges of £748.

At the end of last month Sheldon, aged 28, of Salisbury Road, Amesbury, received a 12-month community order, as well as being ordered to pay a total of £360 in court costs and victim surcharge.

A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: “This altercation happened at around 5.30pm in the evening, when there were a number of people around who witnessed what happened and found the incident incredibly frightening.

“The pair were unknown to each other and it is unclear exactly why the fight started, but it quickly escalated and continued for a number of minutes.

“We will not tolerate this type of violence and disorder in Amesbury and hope it shows that we will take swift action and ensure these sorts of offenders face justice.”
