AFTER falling victim to Covid-19 last autumn, thrillseekers can now begin the countdown to the return of Salisbury Charter Fair.

Waltzers, the carousel and dodgems will be just some of the fairground favourites coming back to the Market Place and Guildhall Square from October 17, bringing music, colour and more to the heart of the city.

A mix of both traditional and modern rides will be on offer, as well as food, stalls and other attractions.

The charter fair has been a part of Salisbury life since 1227 - when King Henry III granted a Charter to the Bishop of Salisbury to hold a fair on the third Monday of October every year.

Mayor of Salisbury Caroline Corbin will officially open the fair festivities at 2pm on October 17, alongside fellow Salisbury City Councillors and members of the Showmen’s Guild Western Section.

It will be open from 2pm until 9pm on the Sunday, and 11am until 10pm Monday to Wednesday (October 18 - 20).

Nearly all rides will cost £2 a turn, with some prices rising after 6pm.
