The Maltings car park will be temporarily closing at intervals over the next few weeks.

Today (Wednesday, October 13) and tomorrow (Thursday, October 14), the whole car park is closed.

What's going on?

The underground car park underneath Sainsbury's will either partially or fully close some days in October and November.

Why?

The closures are taking place to allow essential electrical works.

To reduce disruption, the works will be done in stages so that there is still parking available.

Wiltshire Council says that alternative parking will still be available, and signage and coning will be used to direct customers to available spaces.

Councillor Dr Mark McClelland, Wiltshire Council Cabinet Member for Cabinet Member for Transport, Waste, Street Scene and Flooding, said: “I would like to take the opportunity to apologise for any inconvenience that it may cause, but we will ensure that appropriate signage and cones will be in place to make it clear to the public which areas are open for use.”

When will it be closed?

Today and tomorrow (October 13 and 14), the whole car park is closed.

On Wednesday and Thursday next week (October 20 and 21), the underground section behind City Hall will be closed.

On Wednesday, November 3, the left hand side of the underground section from the entrance up to and including the Shop Mobility car park.

On Thursday, November 4 and Friday, November 5, the rear underground section and Shopmobility parking will be closed.

The full list of temporary closures is:

  • Closure 1: October 13-14
  • Closure 2: October 20-21
  • Closure 3: November 3
  • Closure 4: November 4-5
