MOTORISTS are urged to plan ahead as a slip road on the A31 will be closed for up to ten weeks.

The closure is for preparation work ahead as part of the A31 improvement scheme at Ringwood.

The slip road used by vehicles joining the eastbound A31 at Verwood will be closed from 8pm on Friday October 29 for up to ten weeks.

This, National Highways says, is to provide a safe working area while its contractors prepare the road for the main construction work which is due to start in January next year.

A signed diversion will be in place during the closure.

Traffic wanting to join the eastbound A31 should use the westbound A31 and the Ashley Heath roundabout to access the eastbound carriageway.

Drivers are also advised that the slip road used by vehicles joining the westbound A31 at Ringwood will also be closed from November 15, 2021, until November 30, 2022.

A signed diversion will be in place during this time and traffic will be diverted via the A31 to the next junction at Poulner Hill where it will go over the A31 and back on to the eastbound A31.

Congestion is expected, so drivers are advised to plan ahead and leave extra time for their journeys.
