THE camera club winners for October have been revealed.

This month the Journal’s camera club members were challenged to create a shot celebrating everything Halloween and the spooky season.

Judged by the editorial team, first place was awarded to Jacky Chambers for a classic shot of the moon with a twist, thanks to the silhouette of trees.

This shot was praised for its severe contrast in colours and its haunting feel.

Nic Blake secured second place for capturing a spider hard at work on a delicate web, commended also for use of colour and attention to detail.

Gina Hawkshaw was awarded third place for photographing an eerie mist over woodland, adding a sprinkle of Halloween to an otherwise dreamlike shot.

The three winning shots, and some of our other favourite spooky pictures, can be viewed in the gallery above.

The camera club theme for November will be revealed next week.
