Attempted robbery at Copse Road in Verwood

Dorset Police is investigating the incident and are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

The victim, a 14-year-old boy, was walking with two friends in the area of Copse Road at around 5.15pm on Saturday October 23 when they were approached by a group of older teenagers, believed to be three male teenagers and two female teenagers.

Police say the male members of the group demanded money from the three younger boys and pushed the victim, before pinning him against a fence.

They took a basketball that the victim was holding from him and kicked it into nearby trees.

The older group then left the scene in the direction of Verwood town centre.

The offenders were believed to be around 16 or 17 years old, one was said to be wearing a Puffa-style jacket and another was wearing a blue ski snood.

None of the boys sustained any injuries.

Police Constable Sam Kinsella, of East Dorset police, said: “This was a distressing encounter for the young victims, and we are carrying out a full investigation to identify those responsible.

“I am appealing for anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area on the evening of Saturday 23 October 2021, or who has any information relating to those involved, to please come forward.

“Local officers have been carrying out patrols in the area and can be approached by members of the community with any information or concerns.”
