The Bourne Valley Day Centre for the Elderly (also known as Club Friday) is celebrating 40 years.

It opened on October 23, 1981 and has met every Friday for activities, lunch and celebrations. During the lockdown all the guests were contacted by weekly calls and presents delivered on birthdays.

The club started in the centre of the Bourne Valley and as the group grew it moved to Idmiston Hall last year to provide more room for the activities.

Over the years the guests have enjoyed special days like the Queen’s Jubilee and Christmas parties and more recently a visit to the replica Spitfire sited on Castle Road, Salisbury.

It is a charity and receives an annual grant from Wiltshire Council and is run by volunteers and one organiser.

It continues to grow and everyone receives a warm welcome whether a new guest or volunteer. For more email bournevalleyclubf@gmail.com.
