As part of the recovery of the damaged carriages from the Salisbury train crash, British Transport Police aim to return property left behind to passengers.

As the investigation into the double train collision at a Salisbury Junction on October 31 was ongoing throughout the week, officers only retrieved belongings from the last carriage on Sunday evening.

A spokesperson said: "[officers] will now be working closely alongside our partners in the rail industry to work through the passenger lists and reunite people with their belongings."

"We will be attempting to make contact with all passengers in due course but any one who urgently requires property back can get in touch by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 477 of 31/10/21.”

Two trains collided at a Salisbury Station Junction approaching Fisherton Tunnel in the city on October 31 at 6.45pm.

There were no fatalities, although the driver suffered 'life-changing' injuries

All damaged train carriages have been removed from the tracks and repairs are underway
