REMEMBRANCE events have always been an important part of Salisbury life, paying homage to those who fought in the first and second world wars.

Every year Salisbury has, without fail, highlighted this time of year through parades, music, prayer, and words of tribute, praise and respect for those who both risked and lost their lives.

To mark the occasion this Remembrance Sunday, we have compiled a gallery of Remembrance Day pictures from years gone by.

The 12 images above offer a glimpse of what commemorations were like in Salisbury City Centre between 1954 and 1976.

If you attended these events or recognise anyone, let us know in the comments!

As part of Remembrance Sunday, a two-minute silence will take place today, November 14, at 11am.
