Here is a breakdown of the latest crime data for Wiltshire. 

Wiltshire Police have data of all the incidents that they recorded in September this year with details on the type of crime and the frequency of the crime, as well as the specific location the crime occured. 

Some entries also have the outcome of the crime recorded.

This round-up does not include Swindon, Test Valley, New Forest, or any other areas that are not listed as Wiltshire specifically.

Breakdown of the latest Wiltshire crime data for September 2021

In September this year 3041 incidents of crime were reported, which is up 191 incidents from 2850 crimes recorded in August. 

Violence and sexual offences made up 32.4% of all crimes registered in September with 986 cases making it the most frequent crime during that month. 

Anti-social behaviour was the second most frequent crime with 858 cases making up 28.2% of all crimes in September. 

Other crimes listed included Criminal damage and arson with 289 incidents (9.5%); Public Order with 216 incidents (7%); Other theft with 194 incidents (7.1%); Shoplifting with 129 incidents (4.2%); Vehicle Crime with 107 incidents (3.5%); and burglary with 94 incidents (3.2%). 

All of these statistics increased from data recorded in August. 

The final crimes listed made up around 5.5% of the total crimes combined and these are drugs (52 occurrences), ‘other crime’ (52 occurrences), bicycle theft (24 occurrences), possession of weapons (14 occurrences), theft from the person (11 occurrences) and robbery (12 occurrences). 

Outcomes in latest Wiltshire crime data for September 2021

Outcomes were listed for approximately 72% of the 3041 crimes recorded in September. 

Of these crimes with outcomes, 67.4% were listed as 'under investigation' with 23.5% listed as complete with no suspect identified. 

They were 'Unable to prosecute suspect' in 5.6% of the cases with listed outcomes, and are 'Awaiting court outcome' for a further 1.4%. 

The outcomes making up the remaining 3% of these outcomes were:

  • 'Further investigation is not in the public interest' (17 cases)
  • 'Offender given a caution' (11 cases)
  • Offender given a drugs possession warning (8 cases)
  • Action to be taken by another organisation (8 cases)
  • Local resolution (1)

  • Formal action is not in the public interest (1)

UPDATE: A separate file listing only outcomes data for September 2021 was given for 1907 of these crimes which lists that 167 suspects were charged.
