Covid cases only increased by a small percentage in Wiltshire but the county's overall case rate is still higher than the UK average, figures show.

In the seven days leading up to November 23, the case rate in Wiltshire was at 561.8 per 100,000 people compared to the national average of 439.5 for this period according to Public Health England.

The total cases for this period, 2832, increased by 2.9% from the week before.

Cases went up in 31 areas out of the 63 in Wiltshire.

Durrington & Bulford had the highest case rate at 1308.4 which is nearly triple the UK average rate of 439.5 for this period. 

The most affected areas for new cases were: Larkhill, Shrewton & Bulford Camp, where Covid cases went up by 31; Chippenham South & East where cases went up by 29; and Chippenham Pewsham where cases went up by 25.

Tidworth & Ludgershall had the highest total cases at 113, Westbury the second highest with 96 total cases, and Amesbury the third highest with 89 total cases. 

The top ten Covid hotspots in Wiltshire, using the Covid case rate which is calculated to account for the population size, were:

  2. Warminster East (933.1)
  3. Chippenham and Pewsham (931.8)
  4. Mere and East Knoyle (916.9)
  5. Chippenham North (846)
  6. Chippenham South & East (834)
  7. Salisbury Bemerton (813.1)
  8. Pewsey and Lockeridge (792.4)
  9. Larkhill, Shrewton & Bulford Camp (779.1)
  10. Calne South (772.3)
