A Salisbury drink driver has been fined and disqualified from driving for nearly four years following a string of driving offences.

Benjamin Matthew Evans, 30, drove a Citroen Berlingo at St Michael's Road on July 17, 2021, when the level of alcohol in his breath exceeded the prescribed limit.

There was 66 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of Evans' breath, which is nearly double the legal limit of 35 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres.

Evans failed to stop after causing an accident and damaging another car on St Michael's Road.

He was also charged with driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, meaning he did not have a licence to drive that vehicle, and driving on a public road without third party insurance.

Evans pleaded guilty at Salisbury Magistrates' Court to all these charges on October 26, 2021.

The court gave Evans a community order in which he must carry out 220 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months and he must pay compensation of £350 by December 22.

Evans is also disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 42 months.
