Salisbury Reds bus service announced this morning there is reduced service.

Due to staff shortages Salisbury Reds are seeing delays on their buses today between 7am and 10.30pm, but hope to reinstate services throughout the day.

The affected buses are the PR7, PR3 and R1.

Salisbury Reds General Manager Alex Chutter said: “We are doing our very best in very challenging circumstances, and we ask that our customers please be understanding of our driver colleagues who are working very hard.

"They are doing their very best and it's certainly not their fault or a reflection on them.

“Like many businesses in recent months, we have been affected by a temporary shortage of staff, in particular drivers,

“Whilst we continue to welcome a number of new colleagues into our business, the time it takes to train new joiners and put them through DVLA is a lot longer than it takes for someone to leave.

“This has impacted on the number of drivers available to work and has meant that we have had some short-notice journey cancellations - for which we apologise to any customers adversely affected. "

Alex Chutter added: “Salisbury Reds is currently recruiting drivers - and this is a fantastic opportunity for anyone looking to try something new.

"Those with a customer service or retail background will be particularly welcome. And it doesn’t matter if people haven’t driven a bus before - we just want to see if they have the aptitude, and then we’ll provide full driver training.”

The service is advertising driver positions on their website which have pay of £11.23 rising to £12.05 per hour after twelve months employment as well as perks such as a £250 amazon voucher.

Training is 8-10 weeks at a pay of £10.21 per hour.

In November the Bus service also announced that from Sunday, November 28, the R1 service will be changing due to driver shortages with a new timetable published.
