READERS in Wiltshire have been voting for their top books.

Wiltshire Council has revealed the results of a survey undertaken as part of the Wiltshire Year of Reading – a year long campaign to encourage people of all ages to enjoy reading.

School children and the general public have been voting since the start of term in September to determine Wiltshire’s Top 75 books.

People were asked to vote for their favourite books in an online and social media poll. Each age group was asked to vote for their top 10 favourites.

The winners in each category are as follows:

  • Ages 5-7: The Gruffalo - Julia Donaldson
  • Ages 7-11: The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe - C.S.Lewis
  • Ages 11-14: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban - JK Rowling
  • Age 14 +: Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone - J.K. Rowling
  • Adult: Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen
