THERE are plenty of live music events to enjoy this month from gigs to festive singalongs.

Here are just a few taking place in Salisbury. 

1. Gig to support NHS

Three local music acts will be performing in aid of Salisbury NHS tonight (Saturday December 4).

The gig takes place at the Avon Brewery on Castle Street.

LUMP, pictured below, CLS and Jack Card will be playing in the Music Den room from 7.30pm.

LUMP will be performing new songs about all things to do with Salisbury, dynamic young singer/song writer Jack Card will be performing original material and modern covers, then CLS will wrap things up with high octane, sing along punk and new wave classics.

There will be a charity raffle and a barbecue menu available will also be available.

Entry is £3 on the door with all proceeds going to Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust.

2. Jade Helliwell

West Yorkshire-based country singer Jade Helliwell who scooped Best Female Vocalist at the British Country Music Awards is set to perform in Salisbury.

Jade will be taking to the stage at The Chapel on Friday December 10, with support from The Duskers and Nia Nicholls.

3. Jazz Dynamos

On December 10 at Salisbury Arts Centre, join Jazz Dynamos as they take well-known songs and transform them with a mix of jazz, bossa, and samba.

4. Salisbury Live

The Salisbury Live ‘Big Christmas Hoolie’ is at Brown Street on December 11.

It is also the first official fundraiser for Salisbury Live 2022.

The line-up is Lady Winwoods Maggot, Sarums Lot, Double J and the RnR Swindle, Pugwall, Second Knife, pictured, and Jack Card.

3. Handel's Messiah

On Saturday December 11 Handel’s Messiah will be sung by the full Cathedral choir accompanied by the City of London Sinfonia.

Soloists will be soprano Soraya Mafi, alto Robin Blaze, tenor Sam Furness and bass James Platt.

The concert starts at 7pm and a pre-concert dinner is available in the Refectory Restaurant.

4. Christmas Bash

Salisbury Revival Production Company, a production company set up by first year students studying on the UAL Level 3 Music Diploma at Wiltshire College, are performing on Wednesday December 15.

The Christmas Bash is at Brown Street (29 Brown Street). Doors open at 7pm with performances starting at 7.30pm. Entry is free.

This an opportunity for audiences to listen to up-and-coming young music acts and DJs, performing songs from artists.

5. Celebrate Voice Christmas Gala

Following its most successful festival to date, Celebrate Voice is back for a magical Christmas show celebration at Salisbury’s Guildhall on Friday December 17 at 7.30pm.

The audience are invited to don their finery and walk the red carpet ahead of an evening of opera, show songs, cabaret and festive music.

Featuring festival favourite soloists, joining director Lynsey Docherty is the hugely popular baritone and co-host Philip Smith from the now iconic ‘Lockdown Shows’, along with tenor Robin Bailey (this year’s Traviata and Trial by Jury productions) and mezzo Hannah Pedley (I Lived for Art). The music director is David Gostick.

6. Christmas singalong

Join Evolution Choir for a Christmas Community Singalong at The Chapel in Milford Street, Salisbury on Wednesday December 22 at 7pm.

The event is free and has been organised by Evolution Choir and Lilli Badcock.

Anyone wanting to perform with the choir can sign up for the Christmas Bootcamp sessions which will run on December 8 and 15.

Participants will be taught several Christmas songs in four-part harmony which will then be performed at the community singalong.
