Fordingbridge Events Group has taken the decision to cancel its Christmas Glow event, which was due to take place this weekend.

The Christmas Glow was planned for Saturday (December 11), in the car park near Roundhill in Fordingbridge.

The event was due to be held for the first time in two years.

Other events will still take place around the town on Saturday, and organisers are encouraging residents to "please do go and support them".

Around Fordingbridge, retailers and other organisations are still holding events including a craft fayre at URC, kids’ activities at the Created by You courtyard and a Star Wars themed event at the Town Hall by All The Cool Stuff.

Nicky Jenkins, Chair of Fordingbridge Events Group, said: “We are gutted about cancelling the event but in the current climate with the pandemic and updates about Omicron, many of the stalls and entertainment booked have had to pull out.

“We don’t want our first event back after such a long break to be a compromise and a big let-down, so it is with regret that we have taken this decision.”

The Fordingbridge Events Group is a non-profit, community organisation which has been set up to run the Fordingbridge Festival, Fordingbridge Culture Week and Christmas.

Membership of the Group is free and open to any member of the local community of the area who feels they can benefit the group or wishes to contribute to the community.
