VISITORS at Salisbury Museum were transported back in time for some festive Tudor entertainment.

The King’s House was filled with the sights, sounds and smells of a Christmas during the Tudor period last weekend as part of the museum's Tudor Christmas event.

There was a chance to meet a Tudor blacksmith, see displays as well as enjoy some storytelling, and in the marquee outside there were demonstrations of Tudor warfare.

A replica Tudor festive feast was also on show.

Kate Barker, the chief operating officer at The Salisbury Museum said: "We were absolutely delighted that so many Salisbury families and residents visited the museum’s Tudor Christmas event last weekend, with about 1000 people visiting in all.

"Despite the continuing challenges of Covid, and bird flu keeping our falcons away, we had wonderful feedback as visitors enjoyed the historic demonstrations, the talks and storytelling, and particularly the Tudor bouncy castle."

She added: "We’re so grateful to everyone for supporting the museum by visiting and donating, to Salisbury City Council for their continued funding of family events at the museum, and to all of the exhibitors, staff and volunteers who make these special days possible."
