What does Covid case rate mean and how are areas defined?

The case rate takes into account the population size of an area in regard to new cases, providing an image of the extent to which one area is impacted.

These areas within local authorities are defined as MSOAs, or middle super-output areas, which is a geographic category selected to improve reporting of small area statistics.
