THE vaccination centre in Fordingbridge is today (December 21) celebrating a year since opening its doors and has delivered more than 59,000 Covid vaccinations.

Avon Valley Primary Care Network, which is made up of Fordingbridge Surgery, Ringwood Medical Centre, Cornerways Medical Centre in Ringwood and Twin Oaks Surgery in Bransgore, is rolling out the vaccine and booster jabs at the Fordingbridge Hospital site.

A statement issued by the primary care network said: "We first opened our doors at our local Covid-19 Vaccination Centre a year ago today!

"In our first year we have delivered a total of 59,199 vaccinations as follows: 21,755 first vaccination, 20,323 second vaccinations, 17,121 booster vaccinations.

"This amazing achievement has been made possible with the support of our incredible vaccination team, our army of fantastic volunteers and our practices’ reception and administration teams who have booked, rearranged and supported everyone to get their vaccines.

"Collectively we have faced all weather conditions. We’ve put up marquees (and taken them down!) and enjoyed welcoming you to the centre during such a challenging year in all of our lives."

Walk-ins are being accepted today (Tuesday, December 21) and tomorrow (Wednesday, December 22), from 8am until 4pm.

"To celebrate we have decided to open our doors even wider and have become a temporary walk-in centre on December 21 (today) and December 22," the statement added.

"You do not need to be a registered patient with one of our Avon Valley Primary Care Network Practices, have a fixed address or NHS Number to receive a vaccine.

"However, to be eligible you must not have had Covid-19 within the last 28 days, or be currently suffering from any Covid-19 symptoms. You need to be over 18 and it must be at least three months since your second dose. Please note: we cannot administer vaccines to 12-15 year olds at this site.

"We look forward to seeing you for your vaccine. If you have any vaccination queries, please telephone NHS 119. Thank you from the Avon Valley Primary Care Network team."
