Designs created by a group of care home residents and a group of nursery children have been turned into Christmas cards.

Residents at Laverstock Care Centre, London Road, designed a collage of festive images including gingerbread men and candy canes.

The children at the Giant Steps Day Nursery's design was a distinctive snowman.

Both designs have now been professionally printed on cards to be sent out to friends and families, as well as stakeholders and other contacts in the community.

The Laverstock Care Home is part of the Caring Homes family of 70 homes across the country, provides residents with dementia, residential and nursing care, both permanent and short stay.

An employee said the experience "evokes happy memories" for residents in the care home.

Emma Clarke, Head of Marketing, said: “Our homes really enjoyed getting involved in designing their own Christmas cards this year and we have had some amazing designs from residents, relatives and community groups who are involved with the homes.

“Christmas is an amazing time of year in our homes with lots going on.

"The festive season, with its familiar sights, sounds and smells, evokes a lot of happy memories for our residents and there is always time to talk about Christmas past as well as enjoy everything which is planned for this year.”
