The crash with the Amesbury motorcyclist happened in the lead up to Christmas, at around 7pm on December 22, along the B3089, Hindon Road.

The driver of a Volkswagen Touran was arrested at the scene, on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

In court presiding justice Christine Smith told the defendant: “You have heard we cannot deal with this case here and we are officially sending this to the crown court and there will be a hearing on Wednesday, December 29, to deal with your bail status.”

Family members of Mr Brindley attended the hearing, which lasted only a few minutes.
