If you don't want to be caught in traffic for the countdown to the New Year, here's some expected traffic works in the county to be aware of. 

There are 18 works that will be taking place in the New Year, two of which are already causing delays.

The remaining 16 will begin within the first ten days of 2022. 

Here is the full list of the latest expected road works, with notes from National Highways.

Two traffic works to look out for from now

• A36, from 8pm December 13 2021 to 6am January 10 2022, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A36 Wilton Roundabout to A3094 Netherhampton Rd, traffic lights in place for Toucan Crossing installation.

• M4, from 11.59pm April 27 2021 to midnight, April 27 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4, junction 17 to 16 eastbound, 24hr hard shoulder closure for carriageway defect repair.

16 traffic works that will begin over the next seven days

• M4, from 8am January 4 to 5pm January 28, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 17 to junction 16 - Hard Shoulder closures for vegetation works.

• A36, from 7pm January 4 to 5am January 5, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A36 Limpley Stoke temporary traffic lights for sign repair.

• M4, from 8pm January 4 to 5am January 6, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 18 to junction 17 closed for routine maintenance works. Diversion via A46, A420 and A350.

• A303, from 8pm January 4 to 6am February 11, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A303 eastbound, between Amesbury and Cholderton lane closure for vegetation works.

• A36, from 8pm January 4 to 6am January 7, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A36 Wilton traffic lights for service repairs (Wessex Water).

• A36, from 7pm January 5 to 6am January 21, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A36 northbound and southbound, Crockerton Roundabout to Deptford Closed for carriageway Reconstruction/Renewals. Diversion via A350 and A303.

• M4, from 8pm January 5 to 5am January 29, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4, junction 15 to 22 mobile lane closures in both directions for maintenance works.

• M4, from 8pm January 5 to 6am January 7, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4, junction 15 eastbound, exit slip closed for resurfacing, diversion via, junction 14 and return.

• A303, from 10am to 3pm on January 6, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A303 westbound, Countess Roundabout - Lane closure Switching for Electrical works.

• A36, from 7am January 10 to 6pm January 28, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A36 Wilton Roundabout to St Paul's Roundabout, Salisbury, used as a diversion for Wiltshire Council closure of A360.

• A36, from 9am January 10 to 3pm January 20, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A36 northbound and southbound, Beckington to Deptford - Stop and Go for drainage.

• M4, from 8pm January 10 to 6am January 25, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 17 to 16 closed for carriageway resurfacing, diversion via A350, A4 and A3102 to junction 16.

• A36, from 8pm January 10 to 6am January 13, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A36 Wilton Road temporary traffic signals for survey works.

• A303, from 8pm January 10 to 5am January 15, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A303 Furze Hedge traffic signals for signing works.

• M4, from 9pm January 10 to 5am January 11, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 17 to junction 18 - Lane closure for Electrical works.

• A36, from 9pm January 10 to 4am January 12, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A36 Salisbury between College roundabout and Bourne Way roundabout traffic signals for drainage works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
