CASH and a large quantity of cigarettes were stolen from a village supermarket in the early hours.
Police are investigating the burglary at the Co-op in The Borough, Downton, which took place this morning, December 31.
At around 3.45am offenders are believed to have gained entry to the shop by smashing a window, before making off with the goods.
Police added: "It is believed they left the scene in the direction of Redlynch in a black vehicle. Enquiries are ongoing."
