A man has been arrested after driving a car, that was not his own, the wrong way down Brown Street.

Wiltshire Police officers were involved in the pursuit of a car on Saturday night (January 8), initially reported as driving dangerously in Brown Street in the city centre.

Police say the car collided with another in Castle Road (A345), at the junction with Paul's Dene Road.

The driver then ran towards the nearby Hudson's Field.

Shortly afterwards, a 31-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident by a police dog unit.

He is currently in police custody, arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop, driving whilst unfit through drugs or drink and aggravated vehicle taking without consent.

Crews from the Dorset and Wiltshire Fire Service were called to Castle Road at 11.45pm, to assist the police in making the scene safe.

There were no reported injuries from the collision.
