A Salisbury man was disqualified from driving for one year and fined after being caught drug driving in a van.

Philip Andrew Grigg, 39, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to drug driving at Salisbury Magistrates' Court on January 4, 2022.

The court heard that at 11.30pm on July 5, 2021 the defendant’s Ford Transit had been stopped on The Avenue, junction A36, in Wilton by an officer who smelt cannabis.

The level of Delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol, also known as THC, in Grigg's blood was higher than the legal limit.

THC is a psychoactive molecule in cannabis.

Grigg told the court he had not smoked the drug but had ended up ingesting it after being around friends.

He said you will “never find that in my blood ever again”.

Grigg was fined £120 and had to pay an additonal £34 to fund victim services.
