A FAMILY has paid tribute to a ‘wonderful’ dad and grandad from Chineham who was killed in a crash.

Stephen Swanson, 69, from Talmey Close died at the Southampton General Hospital after he met with a collision on the A31 near Minstead on Monday, December 27.

His family said in a statement: “We would like to say a huge thank you to the public who gave CPR and to the emergency services.

“We also thank Southampton Hospital for their care and support during our dads final days. We are grateful for everyone’s condolences during these sad times.

“Our dad will be missed by many. He was a wonderful dad and grandad and we will treasure all of our amazing memories with him. RIP.”

According to police, they were called around 11pm following a collision involving a white Honda Civic and green Ford Focus.

Mr Swanson was the driver of the Ford.

He was taken to Southampton General Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

His family have been supported by specialist officers.

Officers continue to investigate the collision and remain keen to hear from anyone who can assist their enquiries.
