FIREFIGHTERS were called out to a fire involving a tumble dryer in St Leonards near Ringwood.

Crews from Ferndown and Ringwood attended the incident at a property on Mulberry Court which was reported to Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service at around 5.35pm yesterday (January 26)

The fire was out when firefighters arrived.

A spokesperson for the fire service said: "Crews from the Ferndown fire station and a crew from our neighbouring service at Ringwood were mobilised to a report of a fire in a domestic property. In attendance crews confirmed a fire located in the kitchen of the property involving a tumble dryer.

"Fortunately the fire was out on their arrival and crews removed the tumble dryer from the premises to make safe."

Last week, fire crews from Ringwood attended a number of incidents including a crash on the A31, a vehicle fire and small heath fire.

On Friday, January 21, Ringwood firefighters along with crews from neighbouring Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to an crash at 4.20pm on the A31 westbound near Picket Post where there were reports of a smoking vehicle.

A spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service said: "On arrival there were no persons trapped, nor were there any signs of fire.

"Working alongside police and ambulance officers, crews made the scene safe before returning to station at 4.46pm."

Earlier that day, just after 7am, a crew from Ringwood dealt with a vehicle fire.

The fire service says the vehicle was "well alight" and was destroyed in the blaze.

On Thursday (January 20), firefighters from Ringwood Fire Station extinguished a small heath fire on Verwood Road using buckets of water. The incident was reported just before 9pm.
