SALISBURY'S International Pancake Race has returned, with teams battling it out for the all-important golden frying pan.

After a two-year hiatus caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, the Pancake Day race was back in the city's High Street today, March 1, testing racer's running and pancake flipping abilities.

Organised by St Thomas’s Church in conjunction with Salisbury Foodbank, those competing had the chance to win the iconic golden pan, as well as a Côte Brasserie £50 voucher.

Representatives from Salisbury Cathedral, charities and businesses took part in the event, in its ninth year, but it was the Jordan and Mason team who came out on top.

The estate agents also won in 2020, when the event took place in the cathedral cloisters.

Winner for the business, Michael Ruddick, said: "I feel great, and I've kept the title in the business after last time. I had that to live up to.

"It was really fun and didn't take too much training."

He added his favourite pancake topping is apple sauce.

Participants also dressed up as part of the fun, with cereal boxes, a toilet roll and a dog showing off what they can do.
