A depot in Salisbury is appealing for donations to be sent to Ukrainian refugees.

Armishaws Removals, which has a site on Netherhampton Road, is asking for items to be dropped off at the base.

Drivers from the company will transport donations to Ukrainian refugees in Poland and other European border areas, where there are currently large numbers of refugees.

The company is asking for new underwear, toiletries, sanitary products, nappies, wet wipes, toys, colouring books, pens, crayons, first aid supplies – bandages, etc., baby food, torches, batteries, long-life food (such as tins, pasta), instant foods, thermos flasks and blankets.

They have already sent two vehicles with supplies, and plan on making regular trips with donations.

Items should be donated during their working hours - between 8.30am - 4pm - so they can be taken indoors out of wet weather, as they cannot send wet items.

Along with the Salisbury depot, items can also be dropped at their two other depots in Wincanton Business Park, Somerset, and Invincible Road, Farnborough.

The company says its contacts in Poland have informed them that they are mostly helping women and children, as the majority of men are staying in or returning to Ukraine.

Lloyd Armishaw, founder of the business, said that they are "happy to play a small part in the aid effort".

He added: “We have been overwhelmed by the generosity and strength of feeling among people wanting to help those fleeing Ukraine, in any way they can.”
