KIND hearted members of the public have come out in support of a Salisbury charity following a theft.

Two bikes were stolen from outside the Salvation Army forecourt on Salt Lane on the afternoon of Monday March 14 between 1.30pm and 3.30pm.

They were restored as part of its Re-Cycles Scheme, which raises valuable funds for the charity as well as providing volunteering opportunities for people to improve their bike maintenance skills.

Since the theft, eight bikes have been donated to the Salvation Army to help make up the loss from the ones that were taken.

Captain Martin Davison, of Salisbury Salvation Army, thanked everyone who has gifted bikes to the charity.

“It’s wonderful how our community have helped us replenish our bike stock since hearing about the ones which went missing,” he added.

“We rely on the funds raised from our recycles project to help us finance our work here in Salisbury, so getting these extra bikes is a real bonus.”

The bikes that were taken were a Bright Red Carrera Kraken Hybrid off-road bike with the latest Disc brakes fitted, and a dark red metallic paint finish ladies model retro 1970s Raleigh Tourer with luggage grid and distinctive period rear wheel cover and spats.
