There are plenty of events coming up in Salisbury for fans of music and theatre.

Here are just a few taking place.

1. Spring Spectacular Concerts

The popular Salisbury Area Young Musicians’ annual Spring Spectacular Concerts are making a welcome comeback following the end of lockdown restrictions.

The charity is staging three concerts at St Thomas’s Church featuring a wide variety of groups, skill levels and ages.

On Saturday March 26 there is an afternoon of blowing, bowing and singing featuring junior strings, the training wind band, the junior wind band and children’s choir. An evening of musical delights with the intermediate strings and wind bands, youth choir and young jazz will follow.

On Saturday April 2 the senior wind band, young jazz 1 and Salisbury Youth Orchestra musicians showcase their talents in an entertaining and uplifting evening of crowd pleasing classics.

2. Studio Theatre: The Thrill of Love

Studio Theatre in Salisbury is taking to the stage with its latest production.

The Thrill of Love by Amanda Whittington is the gripping true story of the last woman hanged in Britain.

Ruth Ellis, working in the nightclubs of Soho, meets David, a wealthy, womanising racing driver and falls under his spell.

Things do not progress as she anticipates however, and tragedy ensues.

Questions are raised about capital punishment and crimes of passion and there will be a talk-out with much to discuss on Thursday March 31 after the performance.

The play runs at Studio Theatre, which is located in Ashley Road, from Monday March 28 until Saturday April 2.

Performances start at 7.30pm.

Tickets are priced £12 each or £8 for those aged 16 and under.

3. The Children

The full cast for Lucy Kirkwood’s The Children opening at Salisbury Playhouse next month has been announced.

Belinda Lang directs Christine Kavanagh (Rose), Joanne Pearce (Hazel) and Brian Protheroe (Robin).

The production opens on April 8, with previews from April 7, and runs until April 23.

It’s the story of two retired nuclear scientists in an isolated cottage by the sea as the world around them crumbles.

Together they are going to live forever on yoghurt and yoga, until an old friend arrives with a frightening request.

4. Hurn Court Opera

Hurn Court Opera’s Don Pasquale is coming to Salisbury on April 14 .

In Donizetti's witty comic opera, scheming bachelor Don Pasquale wants his nephew to marry money. Young Ernesto, though, has other ideas, having fallen for the penniless Norina. Pasquale then plots to find a bride for himself and disinherit Ernesto. But as disguise and intrigue mount, the Don finds himself out-manoeuvred – with uproarious results.

Set in 1950s’ Italy, and complete with Vespa scooter, the fully staged production is supported by a professional orchestra conducted by HCO’s Artistic Director Lynton Atkinson.

Don Pasquale will be sung in Italian with English surtitles.

The concert is in the Blackledge Theatre at Godolphin School, at 7.30pm.

5. Concert for Ukraine

Music acts are taking to the stage for a Ukraine fundraiser.

The event at Salisbury Arts Centre takes place on Saturday April 23. Doors open at 6pm.

It is brought to the city by The Endorse It In Dorset Festival team, Pronghorn, in association with Salisbury Live. Wiltshire Creative is providing the venue free of charge.

The evening features The Ukrainians, fiddle and banjo band Pronghorn with support from Lump, and Gypsy Jukebox. They are joined by HP and the Reggae Source, singer/songwriter Hannah Reid and Ribble.
