A man and a woman are being treated in hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The male suspect was arrested last night after a search and is currently in police custody.

Detective Inspector Dean Garvin said: “This is a deeply concerning incident in which a vehicle appears to have been deliberately driven at pedestrians.

"Two people were injured and taken to hospital. Their injuries could have easily have been much, much worse.

“We are asking members of the public to contact us if you were in the area of Fisherton Street, Salisbury at about 9.45pm yesterday (Sunday 27 March), and witnessed what took place.

“We would also like to hear from anyone who may have dashcam footage of a Blue Skoda driving around Salisbury City Centre late last night.”

If you can help, call police on 101, quoting log 305 of yesterday’s date.

The ambulance service also attended with two double-crewed land ambulances and a rapid response vehicle

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We conveyed two patients by land ambulance to Salisbury District Hospital.”

A section of Fisherton Street, just before North Street, was closed this morning (Monday March 28).

Police cordoned off a section of the pavement and part of the road, with officers at the scene directing traffic.

The pavement outside Computer Centre and Chris Wadge Clocks was closed to pedestrians, and the shops were closed, but Champion Barbers still opened.
