Tributes have been paid to a Westbury man who died following a car crash on the A350.

Two cars were involved in a collision at around 9.20pm last Monday (April 4), on the section of road between Yarnbrook and Heywood.

One of the drivers sadly died at the scene.

He has now been identified by his family as 69-year-old Robert Godfrey.

The other driver, a 29-year-old, was arrested in connection with the crash but has since been released under investigation as police continue their enquiries.

In a statement, the family of Mr Godfrey paid tribute to the "reliable, caring and loyal man", and thanked the emergency services for their hard work.

“Rob was an agricultural contractor who loved his job and enjoyed passing on his years of experience by mentoring many of his work colleagues," it reads.

“Outside of work, he enjoyed photography and watching Formula One and rugby, and a pint!

“He leaves behind, and will be greatly missed by, his wife, two children and six grandchildren, and we know he will be remembered by everyone who knew him as a hardworking, reliable, caring and loyal man, who had a dry sense of humour.

“We would like to thank the emergency first responders and the members of the public who were first on the scene of the collision, for everything they did.”
