PUPILS at a Ringwood school have completed a running challenge in fundraising efforts for Ukraine.

A group of year four boys at Ringwood Junior School have been busy running laps of the school playground in a challenge set to raise money for Ukraine amid the war.

The boys had the idea to run from London to Kyiv and decided that one lap of the playground would be equivalent to one mile. In total, they had 1300 laps to run to represent the 1300-mile journey to Ukraine.

Laps were run daily, and the group received support from fellow students who cheered them as they passed.

1300 miles had been reached before the end of term, and over £1200 was raised for Ukraine through donations by pupils and their families.

A Just Giving Page was also set up for the running challenge, where donations are still being accepted.

Headteacher Mrs Evans said: “I am so proud of the boys and all they have achieved.

"It is always lovely when children show initiative and see through an idea that means so much to them and the wider community.

"I would like to thank them and also Mrs. Cleeve who worked with me and the boys in this fundraising endeavour.

"Well done boys, you have inspired us all."
