An untaxed van was seized by police after they were called to tradespeople knocking on doors and asking for work in Netheravon.

Yesterday (Wednesday, April 27), residents alerted Amesbury Police to two people knocking on doors and offering gardening services in the village.

Residents believed that something was not quite right and felt concerned for their vulnerable neighbours.

Amesbury Police located the flatbed truck in Hales Road, Netheravon, and spoke to the two people about the work they were carrying out.

However, it was noted that they were not complying with Trading Standards regulations and they were asked to leave the area.

Routine checks also showed the van had been untaxed since September 2021.

The vehicle was seized using powers devolved to police by DVLA.

PC Blake said: "We would like to thank neighbours for their vigilance and for calling us. We would also like to ask people to remain vigilant and be aware of people knocking on your door and asking for work.

"Please continue to report suspicious activity to us via 101."
