A Fordingbridge man has been jailed for a total of 20 weeks after assaulting a woman on multiple occasions. 

Andrew William Berry, whose address was listed as Ashford Road, was sentenced by Southampton Magistrates' Court on April 20 after admitting four charges of assault by beating on March 2, April 15 and 16 and 18 of this year. 

He also admitted two criminal damage charges, which related to a mobile phone, photo frame and glass.

Court documents state these offences took place on March 2 and April 18.

The 54-year-old was also alleged to have committed these offence when a suspended sentence was in place. He admitted the breach of a suspended sentence. 

A two-year restraining order was also put in place by the court and the defendant was ordered to pay a total of £200 in compensation for the criminal damage offences.
