A replica of the Queen’s coronation robe was unveiled today at Salisbury Cathedral ahead of the 2022 Flower Festival.

Made from dyed grasses and gilded ferns, the robe was installed in front of the altar where it will take pride of place with a crafted orb, sceptre, and crown.

More than 450 flower arrangers will be working to prepare the displays ready for the opening of the flower festival on May 10.

There are 127 exhibits in total and 30,000 blooms have been used throughout the displays.

The theme is Celebration in honour of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and the past and present of the cathedral.

The festival has been designed by Michael Bowyer who is the cathedral’s creative director of flowers along with floral designers Angela Turner and Pam Lewis.

More information can be found on the Cathedral website.
